Chair of Board
musicALL is looking for a new Chair to support the organisation into its next phase.
We are a Scottish charity creating inclusive music opportunities for disabled and/or neurodivergent young people who face barriers to mainstream music-making. Through schools and community partnerships, we support young people to build confidence, creativity and a sense of belonging through music.
musicALL is entering a key transition, with Programme Director Scott Mackay stepping into the Executive Director role in June 2026. This follows the planned departure of CEO Rob Gallagher after five years of growth and development. The organisation moves into this next phase with strong programmes, partnerships and multi-year funding in place.
We are now looking for a Chair who can provide supportive, thoughtful leadership to the Board and work closely with the incoming Executive Director.
About the role
As Chair, you will:
- Lead and support the Board of Trustees
- Work in partnership with the Executive Director
- Ensure strong governance and clear strategic direction
- Help guide the organisation through its next stage of development
This is a hands-on, values-led role with real opportunity to shape the future of the organisation.
Who we’re looking for
We are looking for someone who brings:
- Senior leadership or board-level experience
- Confidence in governance and strategic decision-making
- A collaborative and supportive leadership style
- A commitment to inclusion and opportunity for young people
We are particularly keen to hear from people whose perspectives are currently under-represented in charity governance.
Time commitment
Around 6 meetings per year, plus regular contact with the Executive Director and occasional additional input at key moments.
Why join musicALL?
This is an opportunity to play a leading role in a growing organisation at an important moment — helping shape its future direction and impact across Scotland.
